Personal Growth

Students will:
  • develop a sense of personal worth as a special creation of God and a recipient of His love
  • foster the establishment of wholesome personal relationships through an acceptance of one another in Christian love, learning to understand and respect the views of others
  • practice good citizenship, recognizing and assuming their responsibilities to their home, their community, and their country
  • prepare for college and career opportunities
Here at C.A.G. we strive to provide the most rich and full experience to each and every student. Outside academics, we look for various ways to engage students and bring out the best in each of them. Giving them opportunities to plug in and success is a critical part of that experience.

Student Council

Each year the secondary students have an opportunity to run for a position as a class representative. The upper-class get to run for office positions of the overall student council. The responsibility of the student council is to listen to their constituents and be their voice to the administration of the school. Many school wide activities are led by the student council in addition to many secondary events. Each year the electable positions are: Student Body President, Student Body Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Spiritual Coordinator, and Student Chaplain.

National Honor Society

Picture
We are the Christian Academy of Guatemala (CAG) Honor Society (HS) or the CHS for short. Our program is patterned after the National Honor Society (NHS) since we became a chartered member in December 2014. The CHS recognizes academic excellence and service among the students of CAG.

Quill & Scroll International Honor Society

Our school became a lifetime Charter Member in September 2020. Quill and Scroll’s Mission is to encourage, support and recognize individual student initiative and achievement in scholastic journalism, regardless the medium. Quill and Scroll’s Vision is to recognize every student, through induction into the society, who meets the criteria established by the society. Quill and Scroll, the International Honor Society for High School Journalists, was founded by a group of high school journalism advisers in April 1926 on the campus of the University of Iowa.

Student Media

Picture
Our student-run publications are a great place for student to learn and grow in leadership, teamwork, communication, and of course deadlines. The primary student-run publication is our yearbook. Here is the mission statement:
  • The Sonshine yearbook is expected to preserve memories and to accurately and equally represent the students, staff, and families. The yearbook staff will be centered in Christ, to share the truth, strive for excellence, and lead through service.

Yearbook covers from 1978-2022

Debate

Our Debate class teaches students how to debate in a reasonable and objective way. Students debate about the current social and political issues and find real life solutions through the debates.

Senior Corner

Each year the Senior class offers a myriad of snacks and hot lunches. This provides and excellent opportunity to learn responsibility and business sense in a controlled and safe environment. Near the end of the school year the responsibility is "handed over" to the Junior class for the follow year.
